Visit Billy Miner’s Saloon in our Athletes Village

The Billy Miner's Saloon – opens at 12:00h (12 noon) Located in the Campus Activity Centre at
Thompson Rivers University, a 5 minute walk from the Field House, the Saloon is open to everyone
with an Accreditation Badge.

Known as one of Canada's most notable bandits, Bill Miner robbed the Canadian Pacific Railway twice in the early 1900's. After the second robbery, the RCMP were hot on his heels so he hid in Kamloops for three years before being caught. He was known as a peaceful soul by both his friends and the jailers who watched over him. The
Billy Miner Saloon will offer the best of the old west, with each night offering something a little different.

Monday Night: will be an old fashioned Hoe Down with entertainment. Bring your dancing shoes, we will offer a brief line dancing lesson so that you can get right into the country spirit. Don't miss out, it will be a knee slapping, heel kicking good time!

Tuesday Night: will give a slightly different country experience with our very own Barn Dance. Come and experience how the cowboys relax after a long day of working hard. Don't put away those dancing shoes as we are going to be square dancing the night away to bluegrass music. With banjos, ukuleles and guitars your feet are sure to be moving. This music is also great to sit listen to while socializing with friends.

Wednesday Night: Athletes Party - doors open at 6pm. A ticket must be purchased for the Athletes Party. Tickets will be available until 6pm March 1 at the LOC Desk.

Thursday Night: will be a wild night in the Wild, Wild West. Be prepared! You might just encounter Billy Miner and his posse of train bandits. Poker, drinks and friends will be plentiful throughout the evening. The Billy Miner Saloon will be entertaining Wild, Wild West style with Can Can dancers and singers.

Friday Night: is an evening of casual elegance with our Denim to Diamonds evening. It will be a red carpet affair, but don't lose that denim. We will be elegant in a casual way! An evening of winding down after a busy week, reminiscing with friends.

Buffet Lunch and Dinner:

Each day a delicious Buffet Lunch and Buffet Dinner will be available in the Beer Gardens. Tickets for these meals must be purchased at least 24 hours in advance in the 2010 Centre at the LOC Desk. The Buffet Lunch ticket costs $15 and the Dinner ticket costs $20. Have a look at the daily Menus and decide which meals you want to enjoy while visiting with friends in the Beer Gardens.
